UB30: TWENTY LAKES CHALLENGE is cca 1100km unsupported bikepacking challenge, the goal of which is to visit 30 WayPoints designated by the organizer, as quickly as possible, along voluntary route that challenge participants prepare themselves or will be able to use a recommended route, the aim of which will be primarily to avoid busy roads.
In 2026, the fifth edition of UB30 series will start and end in czech town Železná Ruda and this time we have chosen as WayPoints natural and cultural attractions in Šumava, Bavaria, Berchtesgarden Alps and Salzkammergut region. The main theme of UB30 Challenge will be lakes.
In addition to 30 WayPoints, participants on main route will be required to complete 6 short fixed gravel sections and will be allowed to once use boat transportation on any chosen lake.
SHORT VARIANTS
UB20 – is intended for UltraBikers who do not dare (or do not want to sacrifice so much time) to complete full route, or want to complete our Challenge on a road bike. UB20 variant has all WayPoints accessible on asphalt, does not include mandatory gravel sections, and the length of its optimal route will be around 850 km.
UB25 – is intended for UltraBikers who cannot complete the entire 1100km, but want to look into more remote corners of the route and intersperse their ride with gravel paths. UB25 variant has the same WayPoints and fixed sections as UB30, but ends in Munich (without organizer’s welcome at the finish line). The optimal route length will also be around 850 km.

DATE OF START: Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 8:30 AM,
PLACE OF START: Železná Ruda (CZ), Church of Our Lady of Help
PLACE OF FINISH: Restaurace U Larvů, Železná Ruda-Alžbětín,
LIMIT: the main organizer will be waiting at the finish line until Monday, August 24, 9:00 PM. Arriving at the finish line after the limit does not mean being removed from the list of finishers, just there will be no personal welcome.
PRE-START MEETING, PRESENTATION
UB30 participants will have opportunity to spend the night guesthouse „Penzion Na Hranici“ the evening before the start or after arriving at the finish line. On Wednesday, August 19, there will be an (optional) pre-start meeting in nearby „Restaurace U Larvů“, from approximately 6:00 PM.
Price for accommodation 600 CZK / 25 EUR.
Presentation, number and GPS tracker collection will take place here from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and on the day of the start from 7:00 AM to 8:15 AM.

In the interest of maximum safety of the riders, we selected one busy 1st class road from Lofer to St. Johann as prohibited.

GPS TRACKING
The participants of the UB30 Challenge will be equipped with GPS trackers, thanks to which it will be possible to follow the course on the Internet, via the FollowMe tracking application.

UB TRACKING
In addition, 10 PhotoPoints will be designated on the UB30 route, where participants will be able to share their impressions on the UB website. The use of UB Tracking will be voluntary, for each PhotoPoint sent, participants will receive a bonus 3b to the overall UB Cup rating.

REGISTRATION
Registration will be launched on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at 8:30 PM, through a form in section „UB30 Registration„

ENTRY FEE
Entry fee for participation in UB30: Twenty Lakes is:
– when registering by 31.3.2026: 2000 CZK / 80 EUR
– when registering from 1.4.2026: 2500 CZK / 100 EUR
Entry fee includes: GPS tracker rental, starting number, sticker, diploma and medal for finishers
CYCLING CAPS
For the fifth edtion of UB30 Challenge, we are preparing a special edition of cycling caps, price 450 CZK / 20 EUR (not included in the starting fee).
The cap can be ordered via the race registration form.

WITHDRAWAL FROM THE CHALLENGE
In case of cancellation of participation:
– if cancellation is made by 31.7.2026, it is possible to transfer it once to any other UltraBikers Cup event until the end of 2027, without a cancellation fee
– if cancellation is made in the period 1.8.-19.8.2026, a cancellation fee of 500 CZK is charged, the rest can be transferred
The entry fee paid can be transferred to another person at any time, without a cancellation fee.
MISSING WAYPOINTS, PENALTY
To be entered in the finisher list, we tolerate missing a maximum of 2 waypoints.
For missing a WayPoint, the participant will receive a penalty of 5 minutes for each kilometer by which they shortened their route.
In case of missing a larger number of WPs, the participant will be included in the list of participants with an incomplete route.
